Our Trip To Hudson, NY
Becky and I had the biggest, baddest, most dope work session while spending two nights in Hudson (about 50 minutes south of Albany) at The Wick Hotel. We cannot wait to launch all of our new Capital Heart Connection ideas – all designed to help you find love.
Obviously Becky and I are all about finding love, but also loving where we live - and Hudson is such an incredible gem in the Capital Region. Warren Street, its main street, is lined with little boutiques, artisanal food shops, vintage & antique stores, bars, and incredible restaurants. The architecture is stunning. The place is HIP. If you’re into cities with authentic character and charm, Hudson is a MUST-visit.
After following and stalking The Wick Hotel on Instagram for the past year, I was so excited to visit and experience it for myself. The Wick is a refurbished candle factory in an industrial style building, only a few blocks away from Warren St. and right next to the Amtrak station – perfect if you feel like taking the train, instead of making the drive.
Becky had never spent time exploring Warren St. so I was super excited to introduce her to its youthful, artful vibe. We’re both foodies & libations connoisseurs, so that’s where we focused our efforts. The first night we strolled down the street and we stopped at 225 Warren Bar & Grill because of its beautiful outdoor area – the hanging lights…gets me every time. Anyway, we had some traditional pub food – I got a chicken sandwich and Becky got a cobb salad – and it was SO FREAKIN’ GOOD. Highly recommend this stop for a drink and app or a full meal.
The next day, after a full day of working our Capital Heart Connection brainstorming magic and more…and more prosecco, we headed back out on the town. This time we ended up at Lawrence Park Hudson (below) AND IT IS MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE. The ambiance is sophisticated and inviting. The cocktails are out of this world.
I ordered the Piedmont Spritz, which is made with Ramazzotti Rosato Apertivo, white wine, and grapefruit soda. Becky ordered the Beach Bonfire, made with Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon, Del Bac Dorado Mesquite Smoked Whiskey, Privateer Queens Share Rum, toasted coconut syrup, and Bittercube Cherry Bark Vanilla Bitters.
Unreal. Both of them. We ordered a couple of their small plates to share – the brussel sprouts and a pretzel – both hit the spot.
Then we headed over to Red Dot for dinner (below), the oldest continually operating restaurant & bar in Hudson. We sat back in their secret garden – a beautiful outdoor oasis, with a little waterfall and decorated with bright colors and plants. It was lovely. The menu is small and simple, but it was delicious. Becky got the vegetable curry with shrimp and I got the fish and chips. After dinner, we walked back to the hotel and you guessed it…ordered more prosecco. We had a TIME.
Over brunch on our final day, we ended up at Tanzy’s and had a delicious breakfast with all the small town diner vibes. Such small town diner vibes that we became friends with the owner and chef, the sweetest woman ever who kept going in the back of the kitchen and saying “I just love those girls,” to her fellow cooks - when she thought we couldn’t hear us. After breakfast I wanted to bring Becky over to one of my absolute favorite spots in town, The Maker Hotel Cafe. I would LOVE to stay there one night, I’ll have to save up all my pennies - but I’ll make it happen one day! I described The Maker Cafe to Becky as if you’re walking onto the Titanic…it has a classic victorian charm about it and the atmosphere really is designed to make you feel like a VIP. We shared a double baked pistachio croissant and it was unreal. Chef’s kiss.
So, whether you take a trip solo, with friends, or with a date you met through Capital Heart Connection (wink), even if it’s just for a day, we’ve set you up with all of the hot spots to visit in Hudson, NY…a true gem in the Cap Region. Enjoy and be sure to tag us in all of your IG posts! Xo
